A Work in Progress

How do I begin?  #61 was actually one of my first dolls (only second to Kirsten!) that I wanted back in January of 2014. The first time I saw her was when agoverseasfan posted a video of opening the new rumored doll from eBay. I loved how unique she was and had really red hair, once she was officially released I knew someday I would buy her. Flash forward to June 10 and Jill's Steals and Deals is up with #61 included. I tried two times that day and both supposedly sold out each time. I shrugged it off saying I am saving for Grace anyway. However the next morning I found out that #61 was still available! So of course I ordered her, the shipping was surprisingly fast for my order, she arrived that Monday. The reason I haven't shared her with you until now is because I was debating weather or not I should wait until I fully customize her... 

I'm planning on at least changing her eye color to brown and of course freckles :) Here she is before freckles...

It was so hard to narrow down the pictures! Okay so I need your help, first I want you to pick your favorite name from this list:

My next decision is how I should customize her, one of the reasons I want to customize her is because I want to make a mini-me at around 10 years old (although she will jump from ages) I have a few options to customize her- 

 1.Buy a used brown eyed doll from eBay and  either swap wigs or eye swap and then whatever doll is not the custom I turn into a boy doll, or twin :)

2. Buy Addy (probably Beforever) and eye swap (you should really see a custom of Addy with #61 eyes, it's amazing!)   

Tough choices, and plus I found a Marie Grace with #61's wig and brown eyes and it looks very similar... 

What should I do?

Sewing Sunday

Hi! Another forgotten post series :) I found a t-shirt at a thrift store and I instantly knew I wanted to create a dress for a doll out of it. I found this back in January and I finally started to use it this month :) Instead of a dress I decided to  make a skirt out of it, I still have a lot of the shirt left that I can make a dress if I wanted to. It was really easy, I just used the front of the shirt, measured, cut, hemmed the bottom and sewed up the back about 3/4 of the way. I then added from the back of the shirt a white button and loop and hand sewed it onto the skirt.  I love how it turned out and will eventually make a slip for it. (Probably in another 6 months) 

 

I was trying to use manual mode the other day and changed all the settings in my camera, bad choice because I messed the settings up and I ended up with 1 really dark photo, 1 really bright photo and the third came out semi-okay. Every. Time. Luckily after a few tries I figured it out so the lesson is to never mess with the settings unless you are following instructions or you know what you are doing ;) Plus my camera storage on the computer ran out of space so I have to upload pictures the long way.

"The Basics" Etsy Release

Hello! While on vacation I had the chance to visit a quilting shop specializing in, you guessed it, cotton fabric. It was a really fun experience and you can guess I came back with a bag full of fabric. Most of the samples that I bought (about a 1/4 yard) were just enough to make 2 t-shirts each. I decided to make one to sell and make one to keep. The fabric was expensive compared to Joann's but the quality is really nice. Not all of the fabric I used to make t-shirts but I will include the rest in a haul post (sometime...)  
You may be wondering about the doll who is modeling the shirts... In a few days I will post an introduction but for now lets just say she is a work in progress and it will take some time for me to fully customize her into the doll she is supposed to be!

Thrifty Find Friday

Hi! Over the past few months I have found a few pieces of American Girl size furniture and wanted to share what I found! I can't believe how much time has passed since the last Thrifty Find Friday,  it was only a few months ago that I started finding more stuff again :) At a resell shop I found the Pleasant Company Desk & Chair ($40) plus the Mini Macintosh ($32) that came out in 1996 (!)The only thing missing is the mouse pad, which I can easily recreate with foam :) It was only $10! The computer does need new batteries and once I change the batteries out and clean up the desk and chair I might do a review if you are interested. 

I have always wanted this set, I think it is an awesome addition to any doll house/space and a spinning chair! I think this will go into Lindsey's room.  

The second find bench I found at a garage sale for $1. The bench does need painted although the picture included is what it looks like painted the exact color I want it to be :) Can you guess who it is for? 

 

The bench can easily fit one doll and will look great in Kirsten's room, it might fit 2 dolls if they are squished together.  

The next find you may recognize in my last post, I found this chair at an antique store for $12. It was expensive but the quality is amazing. I thought this would look very nice in Felicity and Caroline's room. 

 

Extra Find: I found this cute picture frame at a thrift store for $0.50 and thought it would be so cute to hang up or display on one of the dolls nightstands. I may just have to keep it on this desk!
