Thrifty Find Friday

 Hi! This thrifty find was one I found a few weeks ago, the one I hinted was an awesome deal? Just a background on how I found it, I found an advertisement for a garage sale on Facebook and Felicity's Bed was listed for $50 it was in a tub and I could only see the bed but for only $50 I couldn't resist. Felicity's bed and bedding was something that has been on my wishlist for a very long time, right around when I was gifted Felicity in 2009. The lady who was selling the bed let us come a day early to pick it up and when I looked the bin actually included Felicity's Nightstand and her Clothes Press!! All for $50 ;) This might have to take the AG Doll Find of the Year.  

When I was finally able to take pictures of it today it was already 8pm so excuse the crazy lighting and Kirsten's flyaway's.

I can't believe how well-made and detailed everything is! Definitely Pleasant Company ;)

Thankfully the bed does fit in the dollhouse but the clothes press does not, so what I'm thinking of doing is set up a room scene with all of Felicity's furniture separate from the dollhouse. If I do set up a room scene for Felicity's furniture either Caroline gets that room in the dollhouse or turn it into another dolls bedroom. Hey you can always use another bedroom when it comes to AG dolls ;) 

I really love how the clothes press can be such a versatile piece, it could be the wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the wardrobe from Beauty and The Beast, or really any bedroom scene.  Still in shock that I actually have it :)

Review Tuesday

Bundled with TM #61 from the most recent Jill's Steals and Deals came the Soft as Snow outfit and Rainy Day Coat. I now have two Rainy Day coats and only just now have I realized what I should use them for- one for Lindsey and one for (future) Grace ;) I thought I reviewed this raincoat before when I bought it as a purchase with purchase almost a year ago but I'm too lazy to look through each Review Tuesday post to find it. Onto the review! 

 

Lindsey decided to model the coat for me today.

 

The pockets unfortunately are fake and cannot be used to store any doll sized treasures.

 

Near the hem of each sleeve is a matching pink grosgrain ribbon which is sewed securely on.

 

The white belt loop is plastic although the plastic is very sturdy.

The belt cannot be removed as it is stitched at the center back of the coat. 

 

You can see the grosgrain ribbon on the shoulder seam of  the coat and the cute collar!

I know what the word is for this "flap" but I can't remember it! Of course Google helped, it's called a back vent!

I think this is a great raincoat for the price of $14 (now on sale here) but for the original price of $24 it can be pricey, especially because the rain boots and umbrella come separately. The coat is really well made and the attention to detail to make this look realistic is truly amazing. Lindsey was just modeling it as it is but an outfit under the raincoat can be too bulky(depending on which outfit you use), the raincoat does easily fit a Pleasant Company doll without any problems. I love the fit and style of the coat. A few suggestions to make this coat even better would be- real pockets, metal button loop and certainly no pink ;) Overall a 3.9/5 stars.

Sewing Sunday

After last weeks "interesting" sewing experience I still wanted to try the cutoff shorts pattern again and last week I ended up sewing two pairs of shorts! I used an old pair of jeans for the next one and I really like how they turned out so here is a photoshoot with Mia modeling- 

 

I think Mia is a Bokeh magnet...

 

I spent 30 minutes looking for a gold chain (and untangling necklaces!) until I settled on this necklace, the reason for the gold chain was I found a Koala charm and I thought it would be perfect for Mia! Unfortunately I could not find one that would fit so I will have to keep looking. 

  

Of course I could not resist taking a picture from this angle, I'm trying not to...

 

This may or may not be one of my most favorite pictures of Mia, ever. 

 

While reading other blogs I always find it interesting where they bought/made the outfit pieces a doll is wearing and I want to add this each post a doll is in, I might forget but hopefully I will get in the hang of it :)
