Review Tuesday

This Review Tuesday I am reviewing Rebecca's School Play Set, this set was a gift and while I am not a fan of the price I really like it :) 
Here is an overview- 

 Let's start with the makeup box, the makeup box is a sturdy paper (?) box with the year Rebecca's stories revolve around, 1914 and printed with frames around each side. Inside is a mirror, the mirror is framed with paper and each side has ribbon's attached to it. The box can not flip up without closing a few seconds later, the bottom is imprinted American Girl Made in China. 

The mirror is poor quality almost like old glass with a distorted image. The box can easily fit the two makeup containers, brush and program. 

 The rouge container is made out of paper (?) with a cute design on the top, on the inside their is a plastic insert of pretend rouge and on the bottom the brand name is printed. 

 The pretend powder is in an almost exact replica just with different colors and a brush. 

The brush is fake wood with really soft bristles.  

 

The first time I put the shoes on a doll's feet they were really hard to get on, thankfully they have stretched out a bit to allow the shoe to get on the foot, they are very cute and I can't wait to mix and match them with other outfits. On the bottom is the brand name. 

  

The program is very cute and printed on high quality paper, nice touch AG!

The butterfly headband is made out of plastic, unfortunately as other reviews have said, the tip of the headband is chipped. I can see this headband being broken very easily.  

 

The wings are very pretty and one of the highlight's of this set. The wings are attached around the waist and then to hold them up you slip one of the fingers through the elastic loop on either side of the wing. The butterfly print is embossed and can easily be scratched. 

 The dress isn't very flattering by itself but as a complete ensemble it does the job. The dress has flutter sleeves and an elastic waist. The dress closes in back with Velcro and a tiny slit at the bottom makes the dress easier to get on.

Photography tip- Time of day mean everything, for example in the full sun around noon my photo's usually turn out bad, try in between like in the mornings or evenings.  

Questions- 

1.) What camera do you use? I actually "borrow" my mom's Nikon D5100, she almost never uses so I am glad to get some use out of it, I love it and it has a lot settings and every time I take pictures I learn something new.  

2.) Which one of your dolls is the most photogenic? Honestly Kirsten is the most photogenic, anything I have put on her she look's great in and translates well.  

3.) Do you like indoor photography better, or outdoor? Hand's down outdoor, I am still trying to get the best lighting for indoor lighting and outdoor provides the best backdrops. 

 4.) Which season is your favorite to take photos of your dolls? Fall is my favorite season so naturally it is my favorite to take photo's but spring is also awesome.

Sewing Sunday

Today's project was one I talked about last week, a colonial dress for Felicity. I thought the green would go really well with her eyes and it does although the pattern that I followed fit's pleasant company dolls better. My only current pleasant company doll is Kirsten, here she is modeling the outcome. 

In the last Sewing Sunday post I mentioned I was having trouble with the stomacher (the solid green piece of the dress) I decided for now to leave it plain as the dress itself is busy enough and add lace to the top. Fortunately you can change it out to create different looks. I'm really happy with how it turned out and the color's are great for spring, Easter and St. Patrick day.

Around the Dollhouse

Hi! Here is round two of Around the Dollhouse series- 

Saige called "I'm meeting Felicity for a hair appointment, Kirsten is at a sewing class and then later we can meet up for pizza, Bye!" 

 "And then I posed as the crowd cheered..." Mia said as she recounted her skating performance

 "It sounds like you did a great job Mia but did you really have to put your skates back on to tell me?" Rebecca said as she got ready to meet her best friend, 

"Fine, I'll take them off," Mia grumbled but was cut off by Marie Grace- 

 "I'm late for a cooking class, hey, would you help me tie my apron?"

 Rebecca offered to help while Mia told Marie Grace how her performance went 

 "Almost done...." Rebecca said, expertly tying the apron

 "The cooking class ends at five so I should be able to bike over in time to get pizza." 

Rebecca finished tying and with that Marie Grace hurried off, she didn't like to be late, especially today. 

 Rebecca informed Mia that they would be meeting for pizza at 6:30 and said Kirsten would be back early enough to walk with Mia and then, after checking that her friend was ready, left. 

 Remembering what Rebecca told her earlier Mia took off her skates and then walked over to her own bed, a mischievous plan forming in her mind. 

 She plopped her ice skates on the ground and carefully opened up a suitcase... 

 

 "Here spider,spider.." Mia mumbled to herself...

 At last she found the fake spider, Mia was the official prankster out of all the girls and if she has the chance she will use it, Mia always loves to pull pranks on the other girls and although she can get on her nerves everybody always get's over it..

 Marie Grace's bed is conveniently situated across from Mia/Saige's bed and it takes Mia only a moment to hide it where Marie Grace will surely find it...
