Sewing Sunday

Yay! I am so excited for this segment, I really like sewing and creating outfits.  This weeks find is a pleated floral skirt I found at a resale second hand store for $4.50! As soon as I saw this I knew this would be a perfect dolls skirt because how tiny the pleats are. I was able to make two skirts so the cost of this was about $2.25 for each skirt, the skirt had elastic in it so all I needed was some thread and a sewing machine and I was off. I first cut the skirt in half and then sewed the side seams, then I sewed the bottom of the skirt with a zig-zag stitch to keep it from fraying, this was the first time doing that so it doesn't look to professional.  I knew I also wanted a long maxi skirt and a short skirt.

Thrifty Find Friday

I know its not Friday but I still wanted to post my finds for this week. 
First up is a picture frame for $1 
Picture frames are always great to add realism to your dolls room, a lot of them look like windows and I think this one will work especially for Isabelle's room (we don't have Isabelle yet but it is fun to start making a room for her) 

Nightstand or small end table $1 
I really liked the look of this (I love shabby chic!) and I think it would be perfect as a nightstand or end table but might be a little too big for a nightstand, (maybe an "island" counter in a kitchen?) this plays Christmas music and the front of it is used to hold pictures. I will probably paint the middle of it because their is a black mark or try to wipe it off. An added bonus is you can lift the lid up and their is storage space!  

 

Next up is a jewelry holder that started life off as this-

 Doll Dresser $1.50
When I first saw this I immediately thought of Isabelle, we are planning on getting her and some of her collection (mostly mix and match)  this will perfectly fit a lot of her outfits and accessories. I tested out different color ideas and settled on coral and silver, the silver did not turn out too well so I am going to repaint the drawers white.  

Doll cup $0.50 
I love peacocks so when I found this I knew I had to have it, it looks a little too big but small enough that it looks okay in terms of scale.  

 Plastic Bowl $0.50 
This is a great deal, it looks a lot like glass but is plastic. It is too big to be a "bowl" in doll size but I think i might use it in a future room for MyAg #61, I am still deciding if I want it to be a light, hang it one the wall or something else.

My Ag Release Part Two

Hi, Felicity again with Part Two!!  
  
Petals and Plaid Pj's $24 
My thoughts: I really like this, most American Girl pajamas look nice and you cant go wrong with this one. 

Bouquet Bed and Bedding $175-213 
My thoughts: I really like that it is a trundle so at least two of us can get use out of it but for $213 for the bed and bedding we will not be getting this.  I also like the shelves and the accessories. I applaud AG for making more money by selling the bedding separately  ;)

Bouquet Nightstand $58 
My thoughts: I like this one a whole lot better than the previous one because who doesn't need more storage space for clothes?  I like the vase and the alarm clock but I don't know if the postcards really go well with it.  Tip: Looking in thrift stores I almost always find jewelry boxes and stuff that are great for doll sized dressers and nightstands, in tomorrows post I feature 2 I found for about a dollar each! 

Sunset Sleepover Bag $28 
My thoughts: I like this one, it goes really well with the new tent. It also looks a lot better than the previous one, which needed something better than gray and purple. I think this one would go really well with Saige's outfits and even the pajamas.  

Sparkly Camp Outfit $30 
My thoughts: This does not look like a camping outfit at all, more like a trip into the city.  Other than that I think it is a nice outfit, it may or may not make it here. I think if they did a more "traditional" camping outfit many girls in the target age market would not buy it because it would be too plain or boring.   

Sunset Sleepover Tent $58 
My thoughts: I like this, it looks smaller than the previous one so if you have a lot of dolls and want to fit them all in their that would probably not work out.  I like that it is a "pup" tent which is usually what kids would use if

they were camping. 

 

Trail Accessories $38 

My thoughts: The hat coordinates with the "camping" outfit and includes all the things you would need to hike while camping. 

 

Pet outfits $18 

My thoughts: I like the petal pet outfit and the preppy pet outfit but I find them a lot similar to each other. What I don't like about the price is you can get (from around the same price range) an outfit for yourself or for your dog :/  

Why a barbie sized shoe?

 

 

Meh...

Jewel Highlights Set $15 

My thoughts: I like that they added some "neon" highlights as these look good on darker hair colors like brown or black hair.  I really want them so then I don't have to dye my hair (not that I would), I can just clip these in instead.   The only thing I am going to complain about is this will not work on short hair! 

Accent Braid Clips $15 

I have to agree with Leah from toDOLLYAwesome, you could braid your hair for FREE! Again, these will not work with short hair, imagine, an odd long piece of hair braided hanging down :)

Earring Tree and Earrings $10 each 

My thoughts: I'm glad that they made this a separate purchase than that weird shelve thing. I don't think I will buy it for $10 but thanks for the idea! I will definitely make it for Saige as a gift for Christmas.  Now for the earrings, I really like both sets and for 10$ I will probably get the doodle earrings.  The pet earrings is cute and I like it, but not enough for me to buy it. 

 

 

Watches and Rings $8 each 

My thoughts: I like the idea of the watches but meh....  The rings are cute but I like Saige's ring a lot better and these would probably end up getting lost anyway.  

I would recommend getting the watch, rings or earrings as a small gift for a birthday or a holiday because it is a nice piece and a great way to accessorize your wardrobe.  

Camp Treat Set $58 

My thoughts: This looks a little small but I think they are going for the idea of a tabletop grill, which is cool, but wouldn't you need a picnic table for that ? ;) I like the plates, cups, bag, teakettle and grill pan (super cute!) but the food looks weird and is totally out of scale. (Have you seen the melon slices?!) I really like this set (with the exception of the food) and this might come home because we love to camp!  

Doodle Backpack Set $28 

My thoughts: This is definitely an improvement from the other backpack and is relevant to today's style.  The pencil box is super cute! I don't like it that much that I will buy it because my must have list is long enough already.  

What do you think about the release? I have a few things I would like to get but I don't have any "must-haves" I know I did not include everything but the things I left out are just items that have been released in the past (and have gone up in prices), just a different take on it.

My Ag Release Part One

Hello, its Felicity here and I wanted to talk about the release that just came out today. (Did anybody else stay up until an early hour to see it?, anybody?) You can check out it here . I will be including almost everything and span it out to two posts for everything to be covered. 

First up is the new MyAg doll, the rumored #61 $110

My thoughts: This girl could totally be my sister! I LOVE the brighter shade of red instead of the caramel color AG has been using. The only thing that I would like to see is freckles! Have you ever seen a redhead without freckles?  I also love the darker green, my eyes look like lasers LOL

Coconut the puppy $28

My thoughts: Our Coconut is the older version and while I do like our dog when Coconut gets dirty it is hard to get him back to his all white fur. I like that this one has a magnetic mouth so it can hold a bone (extra cute!)   I love that this one can also be put in different positions. 

Himalayan Kitten  $28

My thoughts: This kitten is so cute! Again, love how you can pose the pet and also can pick up things with its mouth. This one looks a lot less grumpier than Isabelle's kitten, Tutu.  

Leashes  $12-16

My Thoughts: I really like these leashes but they used to be included with the pet, now they are sold separately and the pet is at a higher price.   

 Pet Beds $26

My thoughts: This is really cute and a great idea, who would let their pet sleep on the floor? I like the different styles but here is a comparison the sleep and snack pet bed (now sold out) was $26 but included a bed, a food/water dish and stickers, the newer one just comes with the bed (only one comes with a pillow). I feel like American Girl is raising their prices while including less with each product.  Edited- One of the new releases is a pet treat set for $16

 Isabelle's Sparkle dress and makeup set $36 each 

My thoughts: I love that you can but the makeup part of it separately, unlike the SE Rebecca's School Play Set. I am not a fan of the dress as I was hoping for something more like this- 

 

I will probably get the makeup set but that outfit is not coming home with me (Isabelle has a lot of other colors that look good on her other than PINK!).  I'm also disappointed because this is probably all we will get for Isabelle this year unless their is something in the fall lineup)

Coconut Cutie Outfit $30                                                               

My thoughts: I really like this outfit, it looks a lot better than other new outfits. I love that it is not pink, the coconut graphic is too cute,  and the shoes and hair piece is amazing! (Seriously, whoever designs shoes for dolls are amazing!) I really like the skirts peachy color.     

 

Starry Hoodie Outfit $30  

My thoughts:  Everything is wrong with this outfit, I would not be seen by the other dolls in this! What is up with that headband, orange is not even in this color combination. I think the only thing I like is the shoes and maybe the headband and pants if they were styles differently with something other than this outfit. I do not like the hoodie at all.          

   Bright Stripes Outfit $38 

             My thoughts: I really like the jacket , I don't know about orange though. I think everything coordinates with each other pretty well.  

                            School Stripes Dress $28 

My thoughts: I am undecided about this outfit, I feel like it is missing something... Anyway I think the dress is okay, just not a must-have (I think I will just wait for it to go on sale..) I like the shoes.
